Yayoi Kusama colabora con la firma Louis Vuitton para la creación de esta brillante y única colección. Un total de 64 piezas cargadas de colores y sus emblemáticos puntos que son su original forma de ver su vida: "puntos perdidos entre millones de otros puntos".... Los lunares cubren la ropa, zapatos, bolsos y accesorios.
Kusama nació en 1929 en Japón. Escultora, pintora y fotógrafa en 1958 se radicó en NY donde se mezcló con el mundo vanguardista y exhibió sus obras junto a Claes Oldenburg, Andy Warhol y Donald Judd. Con su excéntrico arte logró captar la atención de los neoyorquinos. En 1973 regresó a Japón, actualmente a sus 83 años, vive en un psiquiátrico recluida voluntariamente pero asiste a su estudio a trabajar a diario y compaginar su amor por la pintura, escultura y la escritura.
Las tiendas de Louis Vuitton, compañía que siempre ha mantenido una estrecha relación con el mundo del arte, mostrarán sus escaparates inspirados en la obra de Kusama, al igual que su Web Site http://www.louisvuittonkusama.com/es_ES,, un libro y a una aplicación para iPhone dedicada a la artista. Todo coincide con la realización de la primera retrospectiva de su obra, que se ha exhibido en el Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, en Madrid, en el Centre Pompidou, en París, en el Tate Modern, en Londres y actualmente en el Whitney Museum, en NY, donde estará hasta septiembre.
